2. Anastasia Norvina palette

We don't even have it online or in store yet, but I'm praying it will be on the truck delivery this week!

Yes, I was so going to get the new Too Faced Concealer, but their lightest shade isn't light enough for me, I like my concealers to bling! (I got some crazy dark circles) And I always have a problem with my concealer creasing so I want to try this so bad! Now Tarte has always had this concealer, they just repackaged it, just in time for Too Faced new concealer to drop.....but the Tarte one comes in lots of shades a lot more than Too Faced has right now. But It's still a good deal price wise for the Too Faced, so who knows I may suck it up and get one of those too! I'll just put them both on the list!

Creaseless Undereye Concealer by Tarte is a vegan, full-coverage & creamy skincare concealer from America's #1 concealer brand - now with 30 shades & an applicator to make application totally foolproof.

Completely covers dark undereye circles, hyperpigmentation, redness, pimples, tattoos. The waterproof formula doesn't crease or sit in fine lines. It's also powered by vitamin-C-rich maracuja for firmer-, brighter-, and smoother-looking skin.

Skinvigorating Ingredients:
  • Maracuja: Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin C for firmer, brighter, smoother skin and maximum hydration
  • Vitamin C: Antioxidant free radical fighter that helps prevent premature signs of aging, while brightening skin
  • Vitamin E: Natural preservative that also acts as an emollient and antioxidant
  • Mineral Pigments: Soothe and soften skin

Final claims:
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Vegan
  • Waterproof
  • Cruelty free

In a clinical moisture test, it was proven that Creaseless Undereye Concealer: Hydrates skin for 16 hours*

Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer is a hydrating, full-coverage, weightless 4-in-1 concealer that conceals, contours, highlights, and retouches. Smooths and sculpts skin for natural-looking coverage. • Weightless wear
  • Hydrating so skin is never dry or cakey

I just think this is a beautiful natural shade that's like super natural for us girls with the crazy hair, we kind of need a natural lip thats really bright. It's hard to explain, but I've had my eye on this one for a while!

Too Faced's innovative formula glides over lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte opaque finish. Infused with a no-sting plumping filler, Melted Matte ensures color always looks rich, full, and kissable - never dry, shriveled or cracked.

Benefits:
  • Infused with Volulip for a no-sting plumping and smoothing effect
  • Features avocado oil, vitamin E, and hyaluronic filling spheres to moisturize and smooth lips
  • Lightweight, long-wearing formula wears comfortably
  • Angled applicator allows for precise application

6. Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara

Now that I have learned that this is awesome around the world and have watch a few girls apply it at work, I've decided to give it ago since my Too Faced Better Than Sex keeps flaking out on me.

A BIG volume mascara that delivers instant heart-stopping volume with up to 24 hour wear that lasts all night and even the morning after for your biggest, blackest, boldest lashes yet.

You'll know Monsieur Big Mascara is the one at first stroke. The BIG brush and ultra-creamy formula glides like silk onto lashes to deliver up to 12x more volume* with up to 24 hour wear. No touch-ups, flaking and smudging. Perfect for your BIG evening out AND even the morning after.

Monsieur Big's brush has a unique shape with soft, wavy fibers to deliver the perfect amount of formula with the very first stroke. His ultra-creamy formula has supple waxes and polymers to adhere immediately to lashes for BIG, buildable volume and length. Apply one coat and you will see why Monsieur Big is the one. Keep applying and you'll forget all the others.

  • 92% find the color of the mascara very dark / intense
  • 91% feel this mascara make their eyes look bigger

So that's my list and yes I am going to scan these items to see which hold the bad ingredients or not with the new apps I talked about on Insta. Health Living and Think Dirty.  That will probably help me make my decisions on what to purchase since I can't afford all of this! But I'll let you know which makes the cut! So stay tuned, and I will also be updating my closet on Mercari which is under my Shop Page with some cute clothes that I'm cleaning out of my closet, so look out for that and follow me on Insta which I recently change the name to @house_of_style_77!

Tuesday Ten: Sleeping Masks!

Okay, so after I did yesterdays post I went through all of my lotions and potions and cleared out a huge bag of products that with held some of those very bad ingredients!
I was amazed at how much stuff I had, and then even more amazed when I ran out to Walmart just to get the necessities like toothpaste and deodorant that it took forever to find a lotion that didn't have the bad stuff, but I finally found one in a small section that seemed to be devoted to the more natural side of life.
So today I've used all new products and it may take some time to get use to the deodorant that's a little rough feeling when you put it on but fine once you have it on, and the toothpaste is also a little weird since I choose to get the charcoal one that's black. (Be careful when you spit, because you can really make a huge mess!)
I also purchased some new vitamins. I already took a multivitamin and a probiotic but I saw these boxed that had vitamins for your specific lifestyle as a woman and your age by spring valley, and I picked the one for the active woman (lol), yes I laugh, but I plan on getting more active!
Anyways in this pack I take two huge horse pills of a multivitamin, omega-3 fish oil, green tea extract, L-carnitine (which helps the body turn fat into energy, hell yea!), L-arginine, L-glutamin, and Vitamin D3.  So I couldn't tell a huge difference in the way I felt today, but my pee was like bright ass yellow, which it's never been so I'm hoping that's a good sign?
But tomorrow I'm totally back on my Pinterest quest of workouts and pilates, and I'm trying to decide what day to do a cleanse it's just so hard to do at work because people are always eating, and I don't have my will power built up enough not to cave in yet!

So now that I've updated you all on that, I'm going to actually start writing what this blog is about...
The best nigh mask or sleeping pack, whatever you would like to call them.
But I love a good sleeping mask especially if you have dry sensitive or even aging skin like mine. Sleeping masks can be your little cocoon of magic!

These are in no specific order, as always they all appeared on top ten lists more than once.

(Either this mask is a special edition to certain brands like QVC or it's been discontinued because it's not on the Ulta website or an other major stores but I still found it for sale so I kept it on my list)

Wake up to a luminous, nourished complexion with First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Overnight Mask. This leave-on mask is a rich gel cream that envelops your skin in dewy softness. It is formulated with a powerful combination of ingredients to brighten, hydrate and deeply nourish the skin. This no fuss mask goes on like a normal moisturiser and can be used on its own or in combination with your favorite evening beauty products. Upon application, the skin immediately looks brighter; overnight, as the actives are absorbed deep into the dermis, the mask performs its magic. Upon awakening, skin is hydrated and refreshed, revealing a brighter, more even-toned and smoother complexion for the skin of your dreams.

Recharge your dehydrated skin while you sleep with this innovative mask. It’s formulated with highly concentrated Hydro Ionized Mineral Water to deliver high doses of moisture to stressed, parched skin. Calming Sleepscent™, infused with orange flower, rose, and sandalwood, and it relaxes and comforts while apricot and evening primrose extracts to brighten and purify fatigued skin. The result: skin looks and feels radiant, refreshed, and soft so you wake up with soft, glowing skin.

Skin depends on water for its youthful functioning. But all day long, skin loses vital moisture. And the busier you are, the more it loses. This intense moisture replacement mask with avocado and apricot kernel oil deeply and instantly quenches compromised moisture reserves and builds a reservoir for tomorrow. Japanese seaweed repairs skin's barrier to prevent future dehydration and signs of premature aging.

Fresh Black Tea Firming Overnight Mask is an intensely moisturizing treatment that lifts your nighttime ritual to new heights. This sleeping mask acts like a corset for your complexion, giving you a lifted, firmer look by morning.

A proprietary complex of kombucha (black tea ferment), black tea extract, blackberry leaf extract, and lychee seed extract is proven to inhibit damaging free radicals and helps improve the appearance of skin elasticity. The overnight mask also features belle de nuit extract to soothe and rebalance the skin, peptides to help firm the skin and visibly defy the signs of gravity, and hyaluronic acid to attract and maintain moisture to enhance suppleness.

Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask is a reparative moisture mask that does the heavy lifting while you're fast asleep so you wake up to a brighter, smoother, firmer complexion. While you sleep, this reparative mask reaches deep to stimulate cell turnover and renewal.

This luxurious mask contains glacial proteins and desert plant to leave skin smoother, suppler, and softer by morning. The refreshing, moisturizing formula amplifies the hydration provided by a daily moisturizer for a healthier-looking complexion.

For the first time, this overnight sleeping mask combines alguronic acid and algalyte complex to intensely hydrate into the skin and recharge and energize your complexion. Algalyte complex, containing a red microalgae polysaccharide and skin-energizing electrolytes, helps to balance hydration levels and fight the signs of aging. Skin is visibly brightened, smoothed, and rejuvenated in the morning.

This luxuriously bouncy, breathable sleeping mask refreshingly hydrates, smooths, and perfects skin overnight with a revolutionary pillow-proof, transfer-proof formula. The oil-free, lightweight, glow-boosting hybrid is formulated with ultra-soothing watermelon extract, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and gentle AHAs that work while you sleep to tone and clarify roughened, dull complexions. AHAs smooth the surface of the skin by banishing dead, rough surface cells, clearing the path for ultra-effective, lasting hydration, while hyaluronic acid binds moisture to the skin for an incredibly nourished complexion. Skin is baby-soft and bright in the morning, effortlessly.

Boost skin cell regeneration while you sleep with Botanic Farm Black Soybean Milk Pudding Sleeping Pack for softer, firmer, flawless skin by morning. This sleeping mask contains nourishing ingredients to boost skin repair including fermented soybean extract to brighten and collagen to firm. Infused with moisturizing extracts, this bouncy mask leaves skin plump, hydrated and dewy.

Philosophy's intensely hydrating gel-oil formula leaves depleted skin feeling nourished and comfortable, with a smoothed texture that appears naturally radiant and refreshed. 83% of women agreed skin felt supple, velvety soft and looked naturally luminous.*

Enjoy your sleep!

House of Beauty (Worst Ingredients)

I'm all about researching products to see what's the best out there, even if I don't necessarily agree.  Skin and beauty products are created and work for different types of people. And even if I'm not a big fan of something and everyone says it's the best, well I will still list it as being the best.
Normally, my problem with the products are the ingredients. I know they've got a bunch of junk in them and you shouldn't necessarily use it even if it does work. (Because who's to say what all that junk will do to the rest of your body in about 5-10 years)

So that's why after going into work yesterday and getting ridiculed for putting some of "those types of products" on my top lists that I thought I would do this blog and let you the consumer be the judge of what product you buy.

SO here is my list of horrible ingredients that you don't want in your beauty care routine:

1. Parabens
Most already know this, but here's the low down: This is a family of chemicals that help preserve shelf life of the product. They can mimic estrogen in the body and disrupt our hormonal balance, and have even been linked to breast cancer and fertility issues.
Mostly found in : face cleansers, body wash, body lotion, foundation, & Shampoo.

2. Mineral Oil
Well it says mineral so it must be good, right? Wrong! It coats the skin like plastic wrap and inhibits the skin to breathe and absorb natural moisture. It can promote acne and premature aging.
Mostly found in: moisturizers and skin treatments.

3. Phthalates
Chemicals used to help products stick to our skin. (but it actually helps plastics melt). It's extremely dangerous to children and can be a serious endocrine disruptor and cause birth defects.
Mostly found in: Deodorant, lotion, fragrance, hair spray, and candles.

4. Fragrance
This is a tricky one, I've never really minded the fragrance in a product as long as I liked the smell, however just reading number 3 and knowing that Phthalates can be a part of fragrance and you wouldn't even know it. You see companies don't have to disclose what ingredients are inside their "fragrance" and they often include a ton of chemicals.
Mostly found in: Moisturizers, hand creams, lotions, & hair products.
5. Retinyl Palmitate & Retinol (aka Vitamin A)
Honestly we've been lead to believe that this is like one of the holy grails of youthfulness in the skincare world, but you aren't told that while it may soften those wrinkles or dry up that acne, it's also possibly damaging your DNA and can speed the growth of skin tumors!
Mostly found in: Moisturizers, and Anti-againg Skincare

6. Sunscreen Chemicals
Also listed as: (benzophenone, PABA, avo benzine homosalate, ethoxycinnmate, oxybenzone)
Yes, sunscreen should be apart of your everyday skin routine, just make sure you are using the right kinds. Many of the chemicals used to block the rays can also cause cellular damage and cancer in the body!

7. Sodium Lauryl Sulfates & Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)
Known to cause skin irritations.
Mostly found in: Shampoo, body wash, bubble bath.

8. Formaldehyde
Yes we use this to preserve dead things but it can also be in our beauty regimen. It's linked to asthma and neurotoxicity.
Mostly found in: Shampoo, Body Wash, Bubble bath, and nail treatments.

9. Lead
Hey, like me you may have thought that this was completely band from being in anything but know that's just paint, apparently here in the U.S. we are still allowed to put this on our lips and reapply all day long! Lead can cause serious behavioral and learning problems.
Mostly found in: lipstick and lip gloss.

10. Synthetic Colors
Normally listed with the color followed by a number and linked to ADHD and skin irritations.
Mostly found: In all products with color and we even tend to drink and eat them!

11. Triclosan
Widely used  antimicrobaial chemical that's known to disrupt endocrine , thyroid, and reproductive hormones.
Mostly found in: Antibacterial soaps. (Studies found that antibacterial soap were no better and cleansing than regular soap.)

12. BHA/BHT
These are synthetic antioxidants (I didn't even know there was such a thing!) that are used to extend shelf life and are likely carcinogens and hormonal disruptors that may cause liver damage!
Mostly found in: lipsticks, moisturizers, & diaper creams,

13. Toluene
Also can be listed as benzene, phenyl methane, and metal benzene can actual dissolve and thin paint. It can affect your respiratory system, cause nausea, and damage to fetus.
Mostly found in: Nail polish/treatments, hair color, & bleaching products.

14. Propylene Glycol
(PEG, poly ethelene, poly oxyethlene)
Organic Alcohol used as a skin conditioning agent that can cause dermatitis.
Mostly found in: moisturizers, sunscreens, makeup, conditioners, shampoo, & hair sprays.

15. DEA, TEA, MEA, ETA
Can cause cancer and disrupt brain development.
Mostly found in: facial cleansers, shampoos, hair colors, relaxers, & body wash.

16. Triclosan (chloro/dichloyo phyenoxy)
This is actually registered as a pesticide in the U.S. but some how we are still allowed to put it on our body. It can cause thyroid disfunction and liver toxicity.
Mostly found in: soaps, acne treatments, antiperspirants, toothpaste?, active ingredients in antibacterial products.

So looks like I'm already going to be throwing out my deodorant and a few lotions I found while researching this....if you want to know more check out:

House of Skin (The Best Age Fighting Serums 2018)

Hello, Hello!
It's Thursday and the weekend is just around the corner.
Hope all of you have subscribed to this blog and commented on yesterday's post about what you would like to get your hands on in the giveaway! Remember to go to my Insta @jleighstar and follow me there as well as comment on the Win It Wednesday photo of the product you most love to be entered into the contest!

Lately I have been on a quest to find the best of the best in skincare. The fact is we aren't getting any younger and there is no fountain of youth out there, but there are products ant treatments that can help us along the way.

Today, behold the best of the best when it come to serums for aging.
Why do you need a serum? A serum is the product that helps fight whatever your skin problem is whether it be acne to discoloration, to aging. Serums are more potent, meaning they have smaller molecules so they can go deeper into the skin unlike a moisturizer that tends to be a little heavier. However, you still need that moisturizer so don't throw it out just yet!
Serums are an added step to your skincare routine to enhance the look or problem area of the skin.

So I have searched list upon list of the best of the best serums for 2018.  From magazines to Google, I'm here to show you the serums that kept popping up for their age fighting benefits.

First on the list is Clinique's Smart Custom Repair Serum.
($59)

This product claims the following and has a following of great reviews, "Clinique's Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum is a breakthrough serum clinically proven to reduce 4 major signs of aging by 50% in just 12 weeks. It understands the particular needs of your skin, providing custom repair for the damage you see and even the damage you don't. Great for all ages, ethnicities, and skin types."

Solutions For:
  • Diminishing lines and wrinkles
  • Firming and lifting skin
  • Reducing dark spots and evening skin tone
  • Improving radiance and texture

Next I found that Estee Lauder Perfectionist (CP+R) Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum was on everyone's top ten list!
($68)

"Estée Lauder's most effective wrinkle-fighting serum ever. It dramatically reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, with exceptional speed. Facial contours appear firmer and more defined. Breakthrough CPR-75 Technology is proven to double skin's natural collagen building power."

  • *Instantly, lines and wrinkles are plumped and smoothed. Skin feels smooth, looks fresher, younger.
  • In 1 week, a new level of skin perfection and clarity emerge.
  • In just 4 weeks, skin looks redensified and reclaims a youthful firmness and suppleness.
  • 96% showed a significant reduction in the look of lines and wrinkles.

Ideal For:
  • All skin types
  • Serious lines and wrinkles
  • Lifting, contouring
  • Loss of firmness, tone
  • Boosting natural collagen

And I don't know if it was because of Dr. Oz or Dr. Phil, I'm not really sure what show it was on but this one was actually on many of the top ten lists and I too couldn't believe it.
($29.99)

Their claims:
"Supercharge your skincare regime with this clinically proven serum. No7's highly acclaimed Protect & Perfect Intense technology has been re-engineered to deliver even better anti-aging results. Independently tested and proven to work. This serum is powered by Matrixyl 3000 Plus, a combination of the most powerful form of Matrixyl plus a next generation peptide that works together to help restore more youthful skin. With our patented antioxidant complex, it helps protect skin from future signs of aging, keeping it looking younger for longer.

After 2 weeks, skin looks younger; by 4 weeks, deep lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced. Results keep getting better with continued use. 80% of women said this serum provided the best ever anti-aging results they had ever seen."

But the one that comes in at number one on many lists for 2018 is this mack-daddy right here: Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate.
($89/$122)

"Complete age control concentrate. Two power-packed serums in one. Clarins most powerful age control concentrate ever! Now packed with [20+1] anti-aging plant extracts-including turmeric-for visibly smoother, firmer, more radiant skin in just 7 days.*

Double Serum's innovative dual technology successfully combines the most powerful plant extracts-both water-and oil-soluble-to ensure a perfect affinity with your skin, for exceptional anti-aging results.

Key Ingredients & Benefits:
  • Turmeric, known for its exceptional anti-aging properties
  • Orthosiphon extract helps improve skin texture
  • Oat sugars visibly firm and lift
  • Callicarpa extract revives radiance

So there you have it!
These were the four that were on everyones list mixed in with some others, but these were the only serums that repeatedly showed up.
So what's the best of these four? Only you can truly decide what works best for your skin.  Skincare is always going to be a trial and error type of thing. One of these may work better for you and the other may work better for me. However I do plan on trying all of these and determining if their claims are true and which one I believe works the best for myself.
So to be continued...
But I will most definitely be starting with the cheaper and working my way up!
So lucky no. 7 here we come!
