Crystals and God (Thursday Therapy)

Happy Thursday!
I'm still feeling a headache that started yesterday morning, mainly from being on my computer so much, looking down. but I've propped it up so that it's eye level and taken some meds to help, hopefully it will go away soon!

So todays topic is a little controversial.  Everyone seems to be delving into this crystal thing, even I purchased one the other day I found at TJMax for $14 bucks.  I can't even remember what kind it is but it's pretty!  And I have a salt lamp, which my mom also has a salt lamp to help give off positive energy, but when I told her I was sticking my new crystal outside to cleanse it (you should cleanse all your crystals no matter what you believe because you never know how many people have touched it and it can hold negative energy as well as positive) my mom was like are you trying to heal with that? You could tell she was against that thought of it, and I already knew this, but I was like no, it's pretty.
Which is partly true, I don't believe crystals can heal exactly, but like the salt lamps I do believe they can put off positive energy, plus they are beautiful and God made them, even if you just have them as decor it's another example of the beauty God can create.

So are crystals bad? I am a Christian, and here is what I found that I thought was interesting:

"Crystals were created by God. They are beautiful creations that grow deep within the earth. These geometrically designed tools are powerful because they can store, focus, transmit, transform, and amplify energy. They are affected by their surroundings.
A crystal syncs with the earth’s energy field. Since your body does the same, this mineral can harmonize the energy within and around you, balancing the ratio of positive & negative ions. Each crystal also has a unique vibration and frequency (due to its crystalline structure and color). This allows them to assist in healing designated areas of the body, as they may encourage unhealthy cells to vibrate at the same frequency of healthy cells."
"In the Bible, you will we find crystals, gemstones, and rocks mentioned several times, like in Revelation 21. In Exodus 28, we find crystals and gemstones were used in Aaron’s breastplate. It was made according to the design given by God to Moses. This breastplate was important because it was how God revealed His plan to His people. The breastplate was designed so that all the twelve tribes of Israel were engraved on the stones. Aaron was a high priest, and whenever he went to speak to the Lord on behalf of the people, he would wear this breastplate."
"This breastplate was used as a means to help him and God’s people make Godly decisions. The gemstones used in the breastplate were: Jasper, Sardius, Agate, Amethyst, Beryl, Onyx, Topaz, Carbuncle, Ligure, Emerald, Sapphire and Diamond."
"Now, one reason some believe crystal healing is wrong is because some healers say they use spirit guides to help them in their healing sessions. Or they use stones to attract love, bring luck, gain guidance for life decisions, and some use them as a tool to try to communicate with angels or God. As you can see in the passage above, some of this was taken from the Bible. We know that satan and his minions roam the earth. They are deceivers and manipulate the Bible so they can lead people away from the truth."
"We don’t need a high priest because Jesus Christ is our High Priest.  And we don’t need crystals or gemstones (or anything) to help us communicate with God. Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead, bringing Christians closer to God. If your Faith lies in Jesus Christ, and you have been reborn into His Eternal family, you now have the Holy Spirit that lives in you as your Spirit Guide who you can talk to whenever you want. And we can see God’s crystals (and all of creation) as symbols and gifts."- Trinity Phix

Which In this case I think about how my mom wheres copper bracelets to help her joints and told me to get a copper ankle brace when I had sprang mine....so isn't that the same...using copper to aid in healing?
Also I think about the new oil craze, don't get me wrong I love oils and have seen wonderful benefits even when I have these headaches that I'm currently experiencing as I write this. My mom and I both have oils for all types of concerns.
"Now, using these gifts in practical ways to assist in healing should not be too hard to grasp. If you think about it, when you wear a ring with a crystal in it, you may be unknowingly healing yourself with this method of healing (as you will see in my next post)."
"However, I also know that we all have weaknesses and strengths, and we are all at different stages. So it may be unwise for you to do something that someone else does as you might fall into traps, like using crystals as a quick fix for soul issues that require capitulation and God’s Spiritual healing. Since crystals are a stabilized form of energy, they connect more easily to your being. So it is a must that one does not allow these earthly tools to become a crutch or to replace God for certain needs. This is why you must seek His guidance with all things."
"But once you eliminate using crystals in the wrong way (like with sex, wine, & other creations… etc), you are left with another part of creation that can aid in healing."-Trinity Phix

I know that there are certain stones that are suppose to attract money or love or whatever and I Do Not Believe in that aspect, but I do believe in the energy of a stone just like the energy of people, and here is what the the second post had to say about he healing of stones, although I didn't post about using the stones to drink water or to place stones on your body, I'm not really down with that, but I do believe having them around your home like a salt lamp or the aroma or essential oils can help heal:
"You can also take your stones of choice and leave them around your home or office. You will still reap some of the benefits that will assist in healing. But, it may not be as strong as wearing it or drinking it."
"Two stones you may want to leave around your home or office are Tourmaline and Amethyst; they emit negative ions like all crystals, but they can be especially helpful in your home. Tourmaline can cancel out harmful radiation pretty well, and amethyst is known to be calming, like lavender."
"If you are using a stone for direct healing purposes (ex. placing directly on a person’s body), you should cleanse (or clear) the stone after a session as the crystal may need to be reset to its natural, balanced state."
"However, Citrine, Selenite & Kyanite are exceptions because they are self-cleaning stones. All other stones you will want to cleanse routinely to give them a fresh start."
"There, now you have various methods to start healing yourself with another part of God’s Creation. Remember, it is best to have a customized, holistic plan to tackle issues. I focus on my spiritual, soul, and physical health to cover all bases. And when I can, I use crystals with the connecting herb or food that matches my unique makeup. I really like using stones because they are reusable. As long as you care for them, they should be your friends for many years to come."
"If you are going to be studying about crystal healing, be sure you are in constant communication with God because there is a lot of heshblue out there. This is toxic, so you must be grounded in God’s Word so that you are not deceived." -Trinity Phix

You can read more from Trinity Phix Posts Here and even do your own research.  I believe God created all of these wonderful things to help us here on earth however He is the ultimate and one and only that can heal us and save us. So like it says above, if you are studying crystals definitely pray with God about all of your issues and never solely depend on oils, salt lamps, crystals, or even medicine to completely heal you from your elements, because there is only One true healer and that is God.
Hoped this helped! xoxo, Jessica

Tuesday Ten: Sleeping Masks!

Okay, so after I did yesterdays post I went through all of my lotions and potions and cleared out a huge bag of products that with held some of those very bad ingredients!
I was amazed at how much stuff I had, and then even more amazed when I ran out to Walmart just to get the necessities like toothpaste and deodorant that it took forever to find a lotion that didn't have the bad stuff, but I finally found one in a small section that seemed to be devoted to the more natural side of life.
So today I've used all new products and it may take some time to get use to the deodorant that's a little rough feeling when you put it on but fine once you have it on, and the toothpaste is also a little weird since I choose to get the charcoal one that's black. (Be careful when you spit, because you can really make a huge mess!)
I also purchased some new vitamins. I already took a multivitamin and a probiotic but I saw these boxed that had vitamins for your specific lifestyle as a woman and your age by spring valley, and I picked the one for the active woman (lol), yes I laugh, but I plan on getting more active!
Anyways in this pack I take two huge horse pills of a multivitamin, omega-3 fish oil, green tea extract, L-carnitine (which helps the body turn fat into energy, hell yea!), L-arginine, L-glutamin, and Vitamin D3.  So I couldn't tell a huge difference in the way I felt today, but my pee was like bright ass yellow, which it's never been so I'm hoping that's a good sign?
But tomorrow I'm totally back on my Pinterest quest of workouts and pilates, and I'm trying to decide what day to do a cleanse it's just so hard to do at work because people are always eating, and I don't have my will power built up enough not to cave in yet!

So now that I've updated you all on that, I'm going to actually start writing what this blog is about...
The best nigh mask or sleeping pack, whatever you would like to call them.
But I love a good sleeping mask especially if you have dry sensitive or even aging skin like mine. Sleeping masks can be your little cocoon of magic!

These are in no specific order, as always they all appeared on top ten lists more than once.

(Either this mask is a special edition to certain brands like QVC or it's been discontinued because it's not on the Ulta website or an other major stores but I still found it for sale so I kept it on my list)

Wake up to a luminous, nourished complexion with First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Overnight Mask. This leave-on mask is a rich gel cream that envelops your skin in dewy softness. House of Beauty (Worst Ingredients)

I'm all about researching products to see what's the best out there, even if I don't necessarily agree.  Skin and beauty products are created and work for different types of people. And even if I'm not a big fan of something and everyone says it's the best, well I will still list it as being the best.
Normally, my problem with the products are the ingredients. I know they've got a bunch of junk in them and you shouldn't necessarily use it even if it does work. (Because who's to say what all that junk will do to the rest of your body in about 5-10 years)

So that's why after going into work yesterday and getting ridiculed for putting some of "those types of products" on my top lists that I thought I would do this blog and let you the consumer be the judge of what product you buy.

SO here is my list of horrible ingredients that you don't want in your beauty care routine:

1. Parabens
Most already know this, but here's the low down: This is a family of chemicals that help preserve shelf life of the product. They can mimic estrogen in the body and disrupt our hormonal balance, and have even been linked to breast cancer and fertility issues.
Mostly found in : face cleansers, body wash, body lotion, foundation, & Shampoo.

2. Mineral Oil
Well it says mineral so it must be good, right? Wrong! It coats the skin like plastic wrap and inhibits the skin to breathe and absorb natural moisture. It can promote acne and premature aging.
Mostly found in: moisturizers and skin treatments.

3. Phthalates
Chemicals used to help products stick to our skin. (but it actually helps plastics melt). It's extremely dangerous to children and can be a serious endocrine disruptor and cause birth defects.
Mostly found in: Deodorant, lotion, fragrance, hair spray, and candles.

4. Fragrance
This is a tricky one, I've never really minded the fragrance in a product as long as I liked the smell, however just reading number 3 and knowing that Phthalates can be a part of fragrance and you wouldn't even know it. You see companies don't have to disclose what ingredients are inside their "fragrance" and they often include a ton of chemicals.
Mostly found in: Moisturizers, hand creams, lotions, & hair products.
5. Retinyl Palmitate & Retinol (aka Vitamin A)
Honestly we've been lead to believe that this is like one of the holy grails of youthfulness in the skincare world, but you aren't told that while it may soften those wrinkles or dry up that acne, it's also possibly damaging your DNA and can speed the growth of skin tumors!
Mostly found in: Moisturizers, and Anti-againg Skincare

6. Sunscreen Chemicals
Also listed as: (benzophenone, PABA, avo benzine homosalate, ethoxycinnmate, oxybenzone)
Yes, sunscreen should be apart of your everyday skin routine, just make sure you are using the right kinds. Many of the chemicals used to block the rays can also cause cellular damage and cancer in the body!

7. Sodium Lauryl Sulfates & Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)
Known to cause skin irritations.
Mostly found in: Shampoo, body wash, bubble bath.

8. Formaldehyde
Yes we use this to preserve dead things but it can also be in our beauty regimen. It's linked to asthma and neurotoxicity.
Mostly found in: Shampoo, Body Wash, Bubble bath, and nail treatments.

9. Lead
Hey, like me you may have thought that this was completely band from being in anything but know that's just paint, apparently here in the U.S. we are still allowed to put this on our lips and reapply all day long! Lead can cause serious behavioral and learning problems.
Mostly found in: lipstick and lip gloss.

10. Synthetic Colors
Normally listed with the color followed by a number and linked to ADHD and skin irritations.
Mostly found: In all products with color and we even tend to drink and eat them!

11. Triclosan
Widely used  antimicrobaial chemical that's known to disrupt endocrine , thyroid, and reproductive hormones.
Mostly found in: Antibacterial soaps. (Studies found that antibacterial soap were no better and cleansing than regular soap.)

12. BHA/BHT
These are synthetic antioxidants (I didn't even know there was such a thing!) that are used to extend shelf life and are likely carcinogens and hormonal disruptors that may cause liver damage!
Mostly found in: lipsticks, moisturizers, & diaper creams,

13. Toluene
Also can be listed as benzene, phenyl methane, and metal benzene can actual dissolve and thin paint. It can affect your respiratory system, cause nausea, and damage to fetus.
Mostly found in: Nail polish/treatments, hair color, & bleaching products.

14. Propylene Glycol
(PEG, poly ethelene, poly oxyethlene)
Organic Alcohol used as a skin conditioning agent that can cause dermatitis.
Mostly found in: moisturizers, sunscreens, makeup, conditioners, shampoo, & hair sprays.

15. DEA, TEA, MEA, ETA
Can cause cancer and disrupt brain development.
Mostly found in: facial cleansers, shampoos, hair colors, relaxers, & body wash.

16. Triclosan (chloro/dichloyo phyenoxy)
This is actually registered as a pesticide in the U.S. but some how we are still allowed to put it on our body. It can cause thyroid disfunction and liver toxicity.
Mostly found in: soaps, acne treatments, antiperspirants, toothpaste?, active ingredients in antibacterial products.

So looks like I'm already going to be throwing out my deodorant and a few lotions I found while researching this....if you want to know more check out:
